Imperial Slag Glass Windmill Dish • Vintage Ruffled Rim

Charming Imperial Ruffled Rim Bowl of Slag Glass in the collectible WINDMILL pattern. The lovely pressed high-relief pattern is on the inside and is very detailed, including small houses, a fence, a bridge and trees. Ohio’s Imperial Glass Company produced unsigned pieces from 1910-1930, when they began marking their glass. I found no signature, meaning that this piece is probably a very early one.

Slag glass, also commonly known as Malachite glass, is pressed glass made in the same way as Milk glass, but with coloured streaks added to create a marble effect. Many of the same designs for milk glass were also produced in slag glass. It’s also known as “End of Day” glass.
